Why do "specialist Mini parts suppliers" supply parts for Mini's that don't fit?

because people dont want to pay for quality they worry about the price too much

Sometimes it's cheap aftermarket parts and sometimes it's because the tooling has become old and worn.

Or buy the parts that are supposed to go and work together but don't. All new pre veto set up that doesn't have enough travel to disengage.

Wish now I had ordered a new loom before taking the old one out. 10 week wait for new one to be made is frustrating!

What stage 1 kit would you fit to a 1100 engine, but with a 1275 head? Should it be a 1275 kit, or a 998/1098 kit?

Considering a full resto. It'll be my first, but not sure I want my Mini off the road for up to 3 years. I will miss driving her!

It's why I collect as many parts before, cuts down a fair bit of time.

Cool, I'll see if I can find a copy then. I'm sure they'll be one somewhere cheaper than that ebay one! Thanks for your help!

i used envelopes and a pen to stores bits and bobs as when plastic bags gets oil on it the pen disperses. the engines are not that complex as you think. its the cleaning, checking and measuring that takes up the time.

Getting ready for winter hibernation, body cleaned all over, bottom scubbed, top half waxed. Gave the car a clean as well ;)

Is it easy to change a cylinder head mounted heater valve, for one of the later inline types?

Cool, is the inline/SPI type held in place by anything? Or do the pipes just secure it?

Just the pipes and cable =)

Pipes secure it and the cable just needs to be fitted nicely

I only asked because I went passed an old fella in an Austin Metro, but he looked like he still expected the road to be inhabited by Metro's, Maestros, and Montego', so I didn't wave!

1.2 8v in a Punto. Anyway, its using oil, which in the book says a small amount is normal, but doesn't define what is a small amount!

How much is it using though? My metro can burn 250ml if I rag it over the course of a week so just keep it topped up. It'd show you if it was going to go drastically wrong lol

0.5 litres in 2k miles. Seemed a lot for a modern engine.
