How can you tell if the front and rear donuts are worn, I'm not sure what to look for, they look ok could do with a clean.

Crawl under the front and check the angle of the top suspension arm. If it's close to horizontal it's OK, if the wheel end is much higher then possibly they need to be replaced

Blaze = BLVC16
Have you specifically chosen this colour to paint your Mini as it's an early 70's colour.
In 1980 you would have had Vermillion BLVC118
Supposedly a red but looks orange on the car.

I have an automatic front subframe, and want to fit a manual engine, I could purchase the subframe mounts needed to allow a Manuel engine to be fitted, has anyone done this and if so what's it like, any advise would be appreciated.

Don’t put it on the roof you will crease it and it won’t go straight again.
I’ve always tipped shells on their sides.
Use a strip of carpet to rest the bottom seam on.
Then a large wooden beam also covered in carpet to rest the gutter on.
Beam about 7” x 4” 5 to 6 feet long.
This rest the shell on strong points without distorting it. The rear quarter is then suspended off the floor.
Built 3 race cars and 2 road cars this way. Easy and cheap.
Mending and Pai...

Would I be a good idea for me to insure my mini even though it is being rebuilt and in pieces. Or should I wait until I have completed the project.

Same here insured mine once it was a body shell and the engine and gearbox were one item! My garage got broken into and my tools stolen...luckily the scumbags didn't touch the mini!

Try Autosparks for a new one, fitting a second hand loom is a false a economy in my humble opinion

You can modify the tool that comes with an angle grinder, that's what I did.
