At long last I'm finally able to drive again! How I've missed having black grubby fingernails...

I have an endless struggle about how to wash my Mini's underside/subframe without a hosepipe :/ Any ideas?

Drive down to the car wash and use their jet wash. I did tis once after driving my car without the oil filler cap to clean up the mess after

Trouble is it'd just get caked with salt on the way back. They seem to go mad with it around here :/
Maybe I'm a bit paranoid but I don't want to leave it sat for the week with any avoidable amount of it stuck in the arches. Festering. Eating. :x

Mini got an alternator for Christmas. Maybe this one will even line up properly! :P

Not sure whether I trust my squeaky alternator to make it up the M1 for Christmas...

Will removing the warm air it are valve on a 998 affect the fuel mixture? It seems to foul the plugs up on motorway cruising in cold weather.

Done an oil change earlier and here's not *quite* enough oil. Is it a stupid idea to put in half a litre of the old oil to top it up past the min mark?

It was a 5L can but I'd used a bit for a top-up before. I didn't think I'd used that much though. It's below the minimum mark, on the lettering. Not by much but I don't want to risk it.

Don't put the old oil back in. It'll render your oil change a bit of a wasted effort really.

It's okay, I roped a friend into fetching some more oil :P

Thinking of swapping the Mini for a more original one in the not-too-distant future. But what's the biggest early 70s engine you can get without buying a Cooper S?

Hmm. I think my wish list of things is a bit contradictory :( Wouldn't mind a GT though.

u could of course by an early 70s mini and fit a period 1275.

Tis true. I just quite liked the thought of it having an original engine. My current insurers are a bit picky (and clueless). Although I suppose a 998 can be made just as fast. Some thinking to be done :P
