I think it was a case of it needs too much work / money spending on it to get it roadworthy, plus he started to have doubts about the engine, said it wasn't going to be as powerfull as he wanted.

Ah okay. Shame really. Would have like to have seen a dyno run of the engine.

Me too, i was confident it would have broken the 100hp figure without too much difficulty. I hope someone buys all the engine bits together and builds it as planned. It was going to be a right rocket!
