Just a couple of questions
Will vented, drilled and grooved dics work with standard callipers on a 93 mayfair?
Do you have to clean callipers before painting them or can you paint directly over dirt etc?

You can get grooved and drilled, but i think you have to have different calipers if you want them to be vented.

Don't paing over dirt, you have to clean them properly.
And vented discs are wider, but drilled and grooved discs should be fine. Be careful if you do get grooved discs and the discs are supposed to go in a certain direction, can't remamber which now, maybe a doc can remind me...?

some calliper paint kits come with cleaner, high temp paint and laquer to do a proper job.
I did mine t'was pretty simple
make sure you use a nice brush (not a tooth brush !)

These are the discs.

But I the description is wrong as it says they are vented and they are not. You can just give mini spares a ring to sort it out.

Use a nice stiff wire brush to clean them then use a soft brush or tak-rags to get rid of all the dirt and dust.
then just use a paint brush (probably best to use an old or disposable one) to do the painting then again with the laquer over the top.
(i used a toothbrush and it wasn't the best tool! )
you'd probably do better taking the callipers off but it's not essential

Ive just put blackstuff pads on mine (just changed the discs as well) and its the first time ive been able to lock the brakes.
If you are fitting discs and pads ive just done a how to guide for this:

It might help.

You will get drilled and grooved discs on standard calipers, the vented discs are fitted on modern cars and if you look there very wide, thats why people use 4 Pot calipers with them. Arnt your mini brakes any good? i would change the pads and ajust the back ones and see what its like, my freinds mini brakes are awsome!
