Ive had this in storage for some time now
should see some bodywork progress over the next 8 weeks which will give me time to decide on an engine for a rear mounted conversion...

people keep saying v8 it
was there ever a fwd v8 ? i need to rear mount a fwd engine...
theres been some stripping going on today. where its been deseamed along the roof was a coat of filler, which i fair enough, untill you find its about an inch deep and the roof isnt fully welded on only tacked every centremeter or so
still lots of stripping to do and i need to decide on an engine before new panels can start going on

Well my lungs full of filler dust and so is the workshop, but it needs to come off to see whats hiding below.....
previous owner seems to have covered his poor welding and bodywork with a mass of filler. Every panel as a skim of filler / fibreglass on it, in places upto 1.5cm thick!!!
More work to come, needs stripping to a bare metal shell.

WOW amazing project mate, this really is something different the previous owner clearly did alot of welding to the shell and by the looks of the pics there isnt going to be much if any welding for you to do
Keep up posted woth the pics and your plans really looking forward to this project, good luch.

the welding is mediocre at best... and alot of the panels ae so mis-shaped they need replacing.
i think the list so far is
front end
a panels
full floors
both rear quarters
custom tailgate
and finishing off the deseaming with metal rather than filler

Fiar enough lol, good luck with all the welding are you going to solid mount the front are keep it removable?
Also whats with the massive section of the bulkhead missing and huge box? are you going to mount the V8 up front?

The bulkhead as a autograss type weber box in, which is fine and braced and probally gunna keep in.
Below that, the chunk thats missing....well a previous owner was going to mount a Vtec engine in the front, under a normal length round nose front, so cut the bulkhead to fit it.
The V8 engine will go in the back if we can find all the bits to do it.

Hi,
The picup looks awsome...... nice idea the crew cab. To save yourself a heap of time and sanding discs haven't you got a sandblasters nearby?
