My lightweight doors are really really really light. But I work at an airport and need to open and close the window to access the barriers to get in and out. And I fancy adding a bit of soundproofing to the car.

New skins on!

They weigh a tonne, even not built up with winders and glass etc But i think it'll be worth it to have the car more usable.

Drove it the other day, missed driving it. Running fine since the head gasket. The alternator light wasn't working properly when i finished, but I think that might just be a loose wire.

Took a door off..

Put a door on.

Couldn't believe it fitted first time. No adjustment what so ever.

I was given some dooor panels, think I'll try dye them black.

The nearside door took alot more work to make fit. I had to cut the bottom off and git a replacement panel, and it was cracked all over by the hinges. No pictures of that though.

So Primed the doors.

Hopefully get this sorted and maybe take it to riv run.
Or take my Bini, havn't decided yet.

Annoyingly the doors have come out alot better than the rest of the car. So it will need a good flat and mop to try and make it better.

Rollcage came out ok, same colour as roof.

11825227_10153031730658309_2702581304449

The paint has never been very good on the car, looks alot better in pictures than it is. You can see in this picture near the vertical seam where the rear quater and rear panel meet.

11822645_10153031730238309_5054076497095

So decided to wet sand and mop some parts of it. It came out a bit better. But Ideally parts of the paint need to be re-done.

11863432_10153031730088309_7638854853368

A little better.

11058617_10153031729978309_1355813901850

Rear cage painted and installed. I also fitted a load of sound deadener and some carpet to the back. I know I need to buy a headlinder. Need to sort out some water ingress issues at the front and re-inforce the front floor at lower subframe mounts as it's gotten damaged. But been using the car a lot more recently and nothing serious to report. Just going to make it a but more comfortable, tidy some things up and get the NOS on it.

Never got round to sorting the NOS out and sold it on.

Got another trackday on Saturday so been doing a few bits.

BE830A86-7CC3-4235-8F51-F5DA6003C985_zps

Had a few issues, one being the loom catching on fire for no apparent reason today, so i'll have to sort that tomorrow, the main feed from the solenoid to the ignition switch went up, and I can't work out why. Ran a new wire to test and it worked fine. I'll fit a master kill switch tomorrow.

Boot paint has gone weird.

The subframe ripped a 6 inch crack in the drivers side floor plan.

A51A9D4A-F086-4B88-809A-00B4D04CE38B_zps

So Fitted some 2mm steel plate, welded in now.

884A8709-34D5-4638-BC8D-48F518366D1E_zps

List not really moving.

B482E490-9B44-4041-98AC-E7F5F6F8AF45_zps

Never really mounted my radiator properly, so knocked up a couple of quick brackets to hold it steady, another temporary fix that will more than likely be permanent.

655FD9DC-AE75-4202-81EB-DCD9E77796AF_zps

Picked up a set of 13x7 with very good Dunlop sport tyres on very cheap locally.

FD1D67AE-89A4-4409-82F8-55955D0609A7_zps

Fitted some death pads, worked on my Bini ok, so thought I'd try them on this.

Still loooooooooods to do tomorrow, and hopefully it doesn't catch fire again.

Car got warm after around 15 mins and developed a misfire, let it cool down and it was fine. Did find a loose HT lead at the end of the day.

I'm taking it to Newquay for Riv Run at the end of the month, there wasn't really anything wrong with it. So I took the engine out.

I pulled out my race fuel tank as i was getting annoyed with not having any boot space. As i'm going to Newquay in it soon for Riv Run, I want to be able to take some luggage and tools etc. So decided an MPI tank would be the best option. I found my vectra pump and little low pressure pump way too noisy as well on the previous setup. I need to sort the boot floor out, as the second hand carbon one in there is in a terrible state.
