not on Z cars - you need to go to www.pro-motive.co.uk

they do superb FWD R 1 conversion packages.

just like mine :)

ah, just saw the RWD bit - thats a kit car company from derby way I think. but try pro-motive anyways.

Zcars have made front engined rwd minis before, there is one for sale here:

LINK to Zcars front engined rwd Mini

Best thing to do is give Chris a call at Zcars, he can talk you through it.

is there a reasom you want front engine rear wheel drive ?
ive built both front engine rear wheel drive and mid engine rear wheel drive and the mid engine variation is much easier to do and a better finished product

thanks for the advice Chris. i thought that having front FR platform you could keep the car looking as stock as possible as id like it as a road car. it is a amazing example with no expense spared but i d like to do the project myself over time (well as much as im able). do you if it makes the rear end a bit loose because of weight distribution. do you make a kit like the 1 do for the MR version. thanks sam

the mid engined way is the only way to build a big power car that can get it all to the ground the balance of the car is better in every way and it can all go in a round nose shell no problem so it looks stock
only downside is that you lose the rear seats

Hi
Im interested in making a front engined RWD bike powered mini too. Whilst ill agree with Chris that mid engined rear wheel drive would be a faster i would still prefer the engine up front for several reasons
1. It keeps the car looking more original.
2. I feel a front engined RWD car is easier to fabricate in a DIY situation.
3. Im not making the car for all out speed just a fun weekend vehicle.

I have seen pictures of this mini

which is pretty much what im after drivetrain wise and it apparently has Z-cars trailing arms?

This particular setup uses a sierra diff though and as the 3.14 ratio boxes are like gold dust these days im thinking of using a freelander 3.21 instead with the added benifit that its a but lighter too.

Is it possible to buy the trailing arm setup from Z-cars? Im sure I could work it out and fabricate my own as im a fairly competent engineer but im going to have to bow to the combined knowledge of the Z-cars team especially when it comes to trailing arm suspension.

front engine rear wheel drive has certain issues
first thing is the need to run a prop the length of the car
second is the prop runs through the std steering rack and needs to be accounted for
third you still lose the rear seats
fourth the radiater hasnt much available space to fit into so its difficult to cool
all this costs weight and brings problems which can be solved but its hassle id rather not get involved in
for a home build with the time to do it then so be it
the other issue is the weight distribution a Z Cars mid engined mini has 47% front 53% rear in bike format and 40% front 60 % rear in V tec trim a front engine rear drive mini will be 55% front 45% rear at best
this slows down the turn in and the rear isnt gripping as good as it could
this wont be a problem as such for a road car but you will feel the difference in the way the car drives
incidentally extreme cars are very near us
website has a fancy photo of a very nice set of supercars in front of a new industrial unit
they ask you make an appointment before visiting ?
go have a look yourself before you buy a car and check out facilities for yourself
ive been
well worth the effort, unit must have been extensively photoshopped from the victorian unit thats actually their address as shown on the website.
you can call and see us anytime we have nothing to hide as many of you will have experianced over the years you can have easy access to look round at fully built and part built cars and kits
when you have visited both premises and had an impartial look make your own mind up about the products and services on offer
