hello..can you fit 7.5 inch cooper calipers to a 8.4 hub with the disks turned down?

just me wondering and weighing up my options for 10 inch wheels

mini sport alloy kit(bit too expensive)
original 7.5 set up (too expensive)

what i was going to so was do the fiesta calliper conversion

i have a 7 inch set up but apparently there not so good.....

oh that brings me on to another question are 7 inch calipers the same as 7.5's ???

i phoned minisport earlier as i wanted to know what 10" wheels fitted over 7.9" alloy calipers
the list was huge...........
actually thats a lie, according to the bloke that answered the phone there are about 4 different types
revolites, minators, split rims and i cant remember the last one he said ;D

i don't think you can, but if you get `s' flanges and disks you can then fit them to 8.4 hubs and that's what i have done.
cheers

As I understand it you can cut down 8.4's to fit 7.5 calipers.

the front 8.4 hubs can take the s type calipers but use the 7.5 discs and drive flange - keep it all linned up , on some uprights you may have to gring down the outer tip of the bearing housing - some do some dont catch on the bore of the disc ,
the cooper 7" are very small and do not fit on to the 7.5/8.4 upfights , 7" discs are thin and do suffer with fade but if in good nick maybe an upgrade from drums , - no good if your running a 1275/1380

No you cannot machine an 8.4" disc down to 7.5" and fit it under a Cooper S caliper. The disc offset is different in the two systems. KAD make a caliper that will fit over an 8.4" that has been machined down to 7.5" which I think causes a lot of the confusion in this area. This is actually just a KAD 7.5" caliper used without a spacer I think.

No 7" and 7.5" calipers are not the same.
