Ji I have just replaced the pads, discs and wear sensors front and rear on my 53 reg cooper s, the warning light is still on......any ideas ?

I`d check connections on the pads first, maybe it needs pluging in to be reset!

Yes it must be reset. If it wasn't a latching warning then it would only light up while the brakes are applied. If the warning stays on once it has lit up once then it'll need to be reset. There may be a way to do it using the various switches rather than by going to a dealer. Have you checked your manual or a Haynes?

there is nothing in the manual or haynes, the light stays on with the sensors un plugged, it feels like it needs re setting somehow, surely it doesnt need a trip to the dealer £££££££££££££££

The MINI uses a Brake Wear Sensor on the front left and rear right brake pads. When the brake pad wears down, the brake pad wear sensor is also worn down and will eventually trigger the warning light to alert you. Once the warning light is triggered, the wear sensor needs to be replaced.

After replacing the sensor, turn the ignition key to the #2 position for around 30 seconds without turning over the engine...the light goes out!

hi , i fitted new pads to my dads 04 mini cooper s works , and the same thing happend. did you fit gennuie pads? or gennuie sensors? this can be the problem or it was in are case. if you did fit gennuie pads and disks take it down to your mini dealer let them clear it . by the way the light cannot be cleared by a computer if someone you know has won. i no this, as i work with someone who use to work at bmw.

cheers for the advice. the light is now off.........hooray. the method of turn the ignition key too position 2 and leave for 30 seconds without starting the car works........shame the owners manual and the haynes manual don't mention it......

Hello there, im new to the mini forum be easy with me. Im thinking of changing the front break pads on my 2007 mini cooper s, BMW charging to much money times are hard lol, the warning light has come on. Once i have changed the break pads and replaced the sensor, is there anyway i can reset the warning light? my mini has a start button no key. Can anyone help me

BMW in Melbourne charges $220 to flick the switch to reset the fault light
they charge between $400 to $600 just to change the pads what took me 40 min to do
the cost of the pads and sensor was $160
so if you took it back to BMW to reset the fault light to BMW. it would still have costed the $400

Its a form of extortion
just another scam
Its a same BMW leaves a dirty taste in your mouth when its such a fine car
