ok can someone sort this for me.....

i think my alarm is up the swanny(built in 93 cooper 1.3i) :)

the beast won't start on the key i have to either bump it or a screwdiver across the solenoid.... :saywhat:
i had probs wiv the battery and alternator which are now sorted, but, the alarm still wont work..... :)

i get all ignition lights but it just don't turn over on the key.
measured volts at solenoid while mate turned key wich was 8.5-9v
if its the immobiliser can i disable it if so where is it and how?

cheers folks

that doesnt sound too good, :erm: has someone boken into it and tried forcing it to start without the key? because that may put the immobiliser into action causing it not to start.

was it a factory option? or aftermarket fit?

because if it were a factory fit maybe you could go to a local Rover dealer and theyll sort it out.

well i called rover, lot of good that was :)
don't think they have got a clue, they wanted to charge me
70 sovs... or a new fob @ 50 saovs all plus vat :)
so solution is hot wire to solenoid starter button and a key switch
i've got laying around :smartass:
unless you lot have any other ideas

does the engine turn over when yoiu try to start it?? cause 8.5-9v at the solenoid sometime's isn't enough to turn engine over, and if you can start it by bumping or across solenoid then immobiliser not working as it should!!!!!!

The immobiliser should cut all power to the starter solenoid. As its a 1.3 i I guess this engine has the pre-engaged starter with the solenoid on top. If its onlt 8 to 9 volts when it should be 12 then it could be the battery.

Check the battery again to start with there may be a live that is draining the battery if its left standing, if its not that then it could be a knackered starter motor.

The key fob the alarm, does this active and disable the alarm, is there a blinky flashy led anywhere doing a blinky flashy thing at you. I f so battery is knackered in the key fob, just replace this and see what happens.

Above is only a guess, with a mini check EVERYTHING!!!!!

the led in the car doesn't light up... normally the indicators flash and the led in the car blinks on :) :)
