Hi everyone
I'm going to be finishing the wiring loom on the Mini tonight, but, like a prat, i disconnected the plugs from the four switches in the bottom dash rail without marking them!
Does anyone have a car that they could just spend 20 minutes looking at and writing down what colour wires go to which switch? I really want to get it right first time. I'd be happy to pay with beer, sandwiches etc at the next Mini show! (MITP if it makes it!). My car has four switches, left to right is hazards, brake fluid level, heated rear screen, then headlights.
If someone could look that would be amazing!?
If possible could someone also please tell me which way round the wires on the brake light switch on the pedal go? There is one horizontal spade and one vertical spade, and I'd just like to know which colour wire goes where on that switch?
Thanks LOADS in advance, if anyone could have a look for me that would be awesome, and I will be in their debt for eternity!
Ok, grovelling over.
Please?
Thanks
Tom
massive favour needed??

I cant come visit, BUT I know that bit of the car kinda.
The brake light switch cables should not matter which way round they fit. I did an MG yesterday and that had the same colours on both wires on the switch.
The dashboard switches, do you mean the rocker switches for headlights, heated window, brake test etc?

yeah, the 4 rocker switches. all i need to know is roughly what colour wires go to which switch.
The switches have different numbers of contacts, so some of them will be the power of deduction, but i'd just like someone to double check for me really if possible?
thanks for the brake light switch. I don't think it will do any harm if they're the wrong way round anyway, like you say!

Doh !....
Lighting switch - Three wires, Brown, Red and Blue
Hazard switch - Eight wires, LightGreen Brown, LightGreen White, Green Red(x2), Green LightGreen, Green White(x2), LightGreen Pink
Rear Demist - Three-five wires, Green(x2?), Green Yellow(x2?), Black
Brake fluid warning - Four wires, Purple, Black, Black White(x2)
PS. Brake light switch, don't matter as it's only a make/break contact.

Ok;
There are 4 large plastic connectors and 4 pairs of wires (these are the illuminators or something I think, but I dunno to be honest).
The large connectors:
1 has loads of plugs, that goes on the 1 with loads of pins
1 has 3 plugs, that goes on the 1 with 3 pins
2 have 2 pins-(solid green+green and yellow wired plug goes to the heated windows (I just checked on mine))
This should be right.
Its how mine is!

They decide to use 2 wires in 1 pin on some of the plugs, just to be awkward

No worries mate
Oh, the sloping edges of the plugs face the PASSENGER side of the car. I did it the other way round n wondered why nothing worked :nugget:
