just purchased a classic Austin mini and was infromed it was a 1978 model. i have been looking around and the years dont seem to match that model. The engine sz is 970cc and a pretty good runner. Wanted to know if anyone had some info and could enlighten me to the exact yr. also how long can the engines run for mine is on 80k but had work done recently. cheers dudes

I don't know much about specific engines but i do know that mini engines will pretty much run and run and run if looked after properly. Did the car come with much service history? what work has it just had?

Engine number might help verify what engine it is, and therefore the age. Also do you know what Mark it is? Any pictures available?

Welcome to the Forum, Rambo! Nice looking Mini... and the number plate calls it a 1978! (The 'S' on the end identifies the age.)
