well as usual nothing goes too plan.I have been tied up sorting out my mates car for him and had very little time for my own.I did manage to relocate the bias valve on the bulk head the other day and make most of the the brake pipes.Just need to make the two for the master cylinder when i know where it will be located.Today i nipped to the local scrapyard and bought a c16se engine complete with ecu and engine loom for 50 quid.I still have the 16valver xe from the corsa but figure i will get it going much quicker if i just use the 8valve.I am hoping to fit it next week just so i can see how the car sits and how much i will need to cut from the front wings.I also bought some group seven arches from himley so i can now get rid of my sprotspacks.

so all being well i hope to be back on it next week.

Well it seems ages since i updated this thread but i have been sidetracked once again helping my mates out with their cars.

so i only managed to get back on it this week and have already made some good progress. There were so many holes in the bulkhead and inner wings which i didn't wan't or need .So i spent quite a while welding them up and then several rounds of filling and sanding before i etch primed the engine bay .I reckon i welded up about 40 holes that didn't need to be there.some were for left hand drive minis etc.Once that was sorted i gave it several coats of its new paint and a few coats of laquer so she shines.I am only doing the engine bay, boot and inside.Still plan on sending it to my mates paint shop for a professional finish when i have it running.
Modified the clutch so that it is now hydraulic. My bro came over tonight and gave me a hand to put it all together,we got a lot more done than expected and the engine seemed to go in pretty easy really.Much quicker than expected.

so here is the pics of how she looks now.(poor quality because i took them on my phone)Attached File  06082009213.jpg   563.94K   32 downloadsAttached File  06082009212.jpg   607K   44 downloads

cheers mate, only started using pb recently since finding them on ebay and realising that they are in the same place as davmac but cheaper for paint materials.

Quick update:still finding bits of the allspeed kit that are not aswell engineered as people think.Just small things but they all could have been sorted in the kit. That is of course unless i am doing things wrong.LOL..

example:The pin that holds the gear linkage doesnt clip in on the allspeed mount as it does on the vauxhall mount.I thought it must be threaded for a bolt instead or something but it isn't.The clips on the top of the peg dont hold it down as the allspeed mount is thinner.Anyway i found a large washer that fitted in the clips on the peg and then welded that to the allspeed mount.Problem sorted but what a mess about.I will try and get some pics up to show what i mean and get feedback as to what other people have done.

I also fitted the plastic water pipe to the back of the engine and it is held in position by one of the gearbox bolts. The allspeed kit uses spacers on these bolts and i had a mate machine one of the spacers down to fit through the plastic mounting hole so that you can tighten up the bolt without damaging the mounting point.

these are trivial i know but why make a kit that still requires work.I still have to move the drivers side brake flexy mount as when the suspension goes down it will break the adjuster off the gaz front shock absorber.

on saturday i modified a vauxhall gear selector but really struggled to get any gears consistently.I was sure i had modified it correctly so i went and took another linkage off a w plate corsa sport sat in my garden. It is different to the first selector so i was doubtful it would work.Set about cutting down on sunday and bolted it in,hey presto its much better, very positive gear change now.

The scrap man has nicked my tubular manifold so for now i am using the standard exhaust manifold which was suggested by rob at allspeed.I bought a new single bore down pipe for less than a tenner from the local car shop only to find that the exhaust manifold was a double so i nipped to the scrappy and got a single bore one for a fiver with the lambda sensor.I have to say that the astra down pipe is brilliant ,it fits great and goes straight into the mini exhaust tunnel. So fitting the exhaust should be very easy .

pretty pleased with the progress now after the work on sunday and some help from my mate .We also have the drive shafts fitted .I bought 10 metres of copper pipe from the local plumb centre so hopefully will get the fuel lines in this week and some plumbing in done once i decide on a rad.

oh and the last thing for this update ,i bought a damaged cooper sport off fleabay on sunday and spent monday running round collecting minis.Aswell as collecting the cooper sport i went to notts and collected my mates car so we can fit his new morspeed stage three 1380.

just a few pics,Nova 1.6 rad.Thought this was a bit of a bargain at 35 quid. Its a great size for the clubby.had to make some brackets for the rad and the cooling fan is from a mk1 metro just because i had it knocking around. The header tank is from an mpi mini.Just had to chop up the mounting bracket to make it fit better.

Very nice indeed. And a very neat install, i know someone with one of these engines in a roundnose, certanly fits better in the clubby.
