ok....i've searched the forum and read what i could....but still have a few questions...

ok so i've part folded the a panel and lining it up with the door hinge...do i fully fold it around the hinge, and then just spot weld the top and bottom??

that doesn't sound like it'd be very strong though??

but the current a panel doesn't seem to have been welded all along the lip again the hinge...well actually....it doesn't look welded at all!

any tips? and also pics would be a definate help!

correct, it's welded right at the top, on the A post, and right at the bottom to the sill, the rest s just crimped ( folded ) round... It should also be spot welded to the wing along the seam of course.

You may wan to put a brace from the inner wing to the A panel just to help it, as normally the support is provided by the wing...

The "A" panel is welded at the top and at the bottom (as stated above) but it is also spot welded the the inner panel where it is crimped over , I usualy MIG tacks at regular intervals (about 1 inch) "A" panel crimped over bit to the hinge panel (door removed , well you have to to crimp it over!), be carefull not to weld where the hinges bolt to

Does that make sense ? it does to me but then i know what i wanted to say :dontgetit:

ok so is this correct...

fold it around the hinge as tight as possible

spot weld top and bottom

and then spot weld along the edge at 1inch intervals??

Spot welds down the fold ? news to me, but maybe all the ones I've had off, the spot welds have never been apparent ( or even there any more ), probably too much rust ! :dontgetit:
