Hi

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Guess I should tell you abit more about us and our minis.

Fleet currently stands at 4 minis - 1998 sportpack, 1979 mini estate that used to be my track car but now needs a new floor, 1990 racing green which is my current track car (but rapidly falling apart), and we have a 1963 Mk I on the way which could well become my future track car. The common bit to all the track cars is my 8 port engine. It's a nasty, smelly, brutal expensive thing but it's huge fun to drive :)

Been into mini's quite a while and as well as trackdays we're into touring events. Done lots of different ones over the years, the most notable probably being 3 italian jobs and 5 Mizen to Malin's with the irish mini owners.

Tried lots of things, made loads of mistakes over the years, hopefully learnt from them and have a never-ending thirst for info, so looking forward seeing what I can find out on here!

Cheers

Neil

Hi

Been on Thruxston, Mallory, Goodwood, Silverstone, Cadwell Park, Curborough, Castle Combe, Elvington airfiled and Binbrook airfield.

Track car is too modified for distance driving now so I end to stick to Elvington, Binbrook and Cadwell as it's not too far to travel.

Cadwell is my favourite

All good fun!

Cheers

Hi Bluemini

It's a Swiftune built engine - 1380cc, 296 cam, minispares arden 8 port head, twin DCOE 40's on short manifolds. Cam is extreme but it will idle smoothly at 1000rpm and pull all the way to 7000 rpm

It has 1:104 straight cut drop gears and a straight cut gearbox with 3.44 diff. This gives a final drive of 3.6 and very good acceleration but 70mph is 5000rpm :)

I used to run a 3.2 diff which worked better on the motorway but it was a pain pulling away as SC gearboxes have a very long first gear. I used to be able to 60mph in first gear!

What I should've done is kept the 3.2 diff and gone to a 286 cam as the 296 is hard work for road use.

It produces very good power and torque considering the head is unmodified, it's on standard rockers and on short manifolds. Power is anwhere between 89 bhp and 126 bhp depending on which rollers it's on.

Cheers

Neil

1293, stage 3 head, some kinda cam that i need to identify (M2 300), did have straight cuts till i changed the box, Forza's, beam, stripped out, ally dash, linkage in the car, cage, bla, bla, bla... Its an ex-hill climber. I got a 45 for it too. Mine too is load and nasty :)

If you can shed any light on my cam tho, I would be very greatful...
