Good evening all,

This is Cooperman who some of you will know from the Pistonheads forum.
Basically, I rally Minis and have done so since 1961 when I first became involved with serious rallying in a Mk. 1 850.
Now, in my older age (2nd childhead, or so 'er indoors' says) I have two rally Coopers.
The first is a full spec 1964 'S' at 1293 cc & prepared to International Historic regulations by my son, Mike, and myself. This car was featured in the Jan 04 issue of Mini Magazine with the Clubman GT Rally Car of my great buddy Geoff Loos.
The other, which is currently having a very comprehensive and full build is a 1991 Cooper 1275 (carb model). This I am preparing for the new Enduro Formula 1400 rally series which is currently gaining in popularity as a low-cost formula.
The first event for Mike and me in this car is the RAC Revival Rally next November, but we'll be doing a few other events first in the '64 Historic, like the East Anglian Classic National in May. We won that event in 2002 and were leading last year when the transmission let go halfway through.
If I can do anything I want to encourage you Mini freaks to come and do some 'proper' rallying. Let me know if I can assist with any advice.
As yet we don't really know if an Enduro Formula 1400 prepared Mini will be competitive against more modern cars like the Polo 1400, Citroen Saxo, Suzuki Swift, Peugeot 106 Rallye, but we want to give it a go. Engines and transmissions must stay standard i.e. blueprinted, and with only about 80 bhp this may not be enough. Mike says that we must make up for this with more aggressive driving in the forests from me! We shall see.
All the best to you Mini guys and Girls out there.

Peter

Hey a big welcome to the site, all i can say is WOW, a good many years of mini experience under your belt. I am seriously interested into getting into rallying and would love to do it in a mini, im 19 yrs of age whether this will make any difference to anything i do not know, maybe you could suggest a starting route where i could enter and the key its lo-cost.

Thanks Nick
