I was going to buy a new black headlineing kit, old one is white and stained, Ergh
But would be very easy to just use fabric sprey paint. Will this give a horible finnish? But its black, so wont be as noticable

also Fumes? dont want fumes while i am driving along, Might get me high

Driving under the influence an all that >_<

There's been a few topics about this latley dude. I painted mine black (from grey) using halfords flexible vinyl paint, you'll need about 3 tins to get a nice even coverage, definatley transforms it.....

Not a very good 'after' picture, but i should be getting the car back tomorrow afternoon, so i'll grab some pics of the headlining...

I was told a couple of coats of emultion paint with a roller can do the same job with no fumes and mess. I have not tried it as yet, but will be doing soon once I get my welding out of the way.

After scrubbing with thinners and a rag, then using a can of 'sticky stuff remover' from halfords:

Then after 2 coats of roller painting with black emulsion:

I'd go for vinyl spray, it's purposely made for the job... I've done a number of headlining with it, and all have come out pretty good...

I've even done vinyl seats with it, and that seems to last aswell.. ( don't rub off )

i did mine the other week, was going to use vinyl paint from halfords, but £10 a tin, went down local market and got some acrylic mat black paint for £2.50
tested it on my sun visers first, and then did the whole thing. it dryed fine non of that sticky feeling after, and it stays on if you catch it.

but recomended it to you, saves you the cost of a new headlining and the mither to fit one :)

Just taken pics of the seats these were done in Feb 2002 ( so 7+ years ago ) they are actually that horrid 70's light poo tan colour ( came out of a poo brown mini ), you can see it rubbing through, but I feel that just adds a bit of character...

Drivers Seat ( see's a lot of greasy jeans etc )

[attachment=83285:02042009551.jpg]

Passenger Seat

[attachment=83286:02042009553.jpg]

And rear ( don't see much action at all :) )

[attachment=83287:02042009552.jpg]

The black was halfords own, and really does stick, the blue was "Plasti-kote" which has a tendency to rub off, but I don't think that's available anymore.

Emoltion seams the easiest, role that bad boy on!
But i Have the Breather head lining (think its called that, it has lots of tiny holes in)
Spoke to a guy today who sugested covering it in stretchy fabric, with contact adhesive, then tuck it under the rubber frames, But the rubbber frames, things cant be just, 'tucked under' on them

so still role on emoltion?
I dont really know what the holes are for, Any one know? to soak up the farts and smoke? Mmmmmm =]

Just to ask did you use a satin sheen or a Matt Emulsion?

Erm I really can't remember to be honest, got no idea.

I'd buy satin if I was doing it again now.
