I made one similar in 3x2 timber. I would suggest extending the feet on either side to 3 feet and moving the diagonal braces at the sides upward so they join the centre pole near the scaffold clamp and outward near the end of the feet at the bottom if that makes sense. This is because you will not be able to mount through the centre of gravity of the body. It is very bottom heavy and if you clamp with the body rotated through 90 degrees the forces trying to twist the scaffold pole are very considerable wheras forces fore and aft along the length of the pole are only what you apply pushing and pulling at the body.

Just a suggestion...

When you are happy that the supports are stable, consider fitting 4 castors to each support so you can move the shell around the garage.

I sometimes take mine outside and turn it round to get the best use of my lighting.

Must agree with Pedro. Here's a pic of the one I made.

would i need all 4 diagonals if i built it as per my diagram?

You see the 4 triangular pieces of ply I have used to brace between the diagonal on the end and the long stretcher at the bottom ?. A brace here of steel tube roughly where the top edge of the ply lies may be useful, although if you use steel/welded construction you may get away without them. It's the sort of thing which can be added once you get the car on if you feel it's a bit too flimsy. you can also ensure they positioned such that the car doesn't hit them when rotated.

I would just like to add I have measured my rotisserie today and it is only 4 feet between the castors at each end and has been perfectly stable, My first post suggested 6 feet wide which I now think would be totally OTT. Sorry about that Projectjordan.

The rotisserie looks good. That's one flash hosepipe reel though!

no problem, i've made mine 3 foot apart after looking at the ebay one. i'll post an updated plan in a bit.

SolarB, have you put the post through the back seat panel to get it level?

cheers
