I mostly like it - I think it is a good way to cut out most of the crap that was filling up the old for sale section.

However, I do have a couple of points - firstly, removing the sold items to a different section, for two reasons, both have already been mentioned. Firstly, it is mildly annoying seeing all the sold items down the page. Secondly, it will help people to gauge current prices if they have something similar to sell.

My second point has also been mentioned previously - stumbling upon something you might want by accident. Not a major problem as I end up browsing ebay reguarly anyway..

My final point is the seperation from the rest of the forum. Previously, when you went into the For Sale section it was like any other part of the forum in that you could click the 'The Mini Forum' link at the top left and it takes you back to the main forum page. Now, when you go into the classifieds, you can no longer do that. For most people its just a case of clicking on 'Home' again, but if they dont have it as their homepage they have to type the whole address in again.

Overall I think it works well though.

When you're in the classifieds section there is a 'Forums' button on the top right, or you can click the TMF logo to take you back to the forums home page.

I do think it would be good if there were less steps. . .hmm that doesnt make sense.... like, when I go back to view my advert, I have to go to Classified, then other, then search for mine...but I suppose thats what you do on Pistonheads and other sites

If you goto classifieds and are logged in, you can click "my ads" at the top left area of the screen and find all your ads in one click.

Why thanks dude :P :) ;)

HAHA What an idiot. I cant believe I didn't realise the logo was a link as well - I just assumed it was all one banner across the top :P

I think the new system is an improvement but like all things it takes a little getting used to. I liked to just browse through and see if theres something i wanted, and people have said the new system isnt as easy to do this, but i've found its actually a lot better if you just click 'ads in the last day, or last 7 days etc. That way you get all the adds and you can check up on what you've missed, rather than with the old selling pages the ads on the top were just ones being bumped...

Im loving the new set-up. A great addition to an already great site. It's great if you know what parts your after with the different sections. I suppose if your just browsing for anything there is a little bit more work needed but in general it's great.

I think its really good and I like how you can click the 'sold' button so you dont just have loads of threads still open with people constantly asking if the items been sold.

Good work Jammy and team! :P

Loads of my items have sold... But the ads haven't been deleted
And I cant post any more ads up....

Do I have to report every add or am I missing a 'delete' button?

And I thought they only lasted 15 days?

Rather confused to be honest :(

I like it. i can see a preview pic so i dont need to scroll through pages and pages of "pics please" and "is this still for sale?" The seperation is good because it saves time in scrolling through everything. I can click on what i actually want to look through. Its a good idea imo. Much better than the old system

I really am sorry to be negative but I just don't like the new section.

I can appreciate that a lot of work has gone into it, but it seems(to me at least) that the new section just isn't attracting the traffic that the old one did.

TMF used to be a great place to buy and sell stuff, I 've sold a load of stuff on here and usually have a clearout before a show so I can meet people and save posting.

I did this before Himley and managed to sell nothing!!

Usually I manage a 75% sell rate

I don't like the fact that the ads have a lifespan, many times I've needed something or made a mental note of a part for sale that I fancied but didn't have a use for/ money to buy and then gone back 3/4/5/6 months later and buy it!!

Also I now have no way of bumping the item or highlighting to buyers that I have reduced the price without a new ad.

The archieved old ads have been a godsend for me, now all those valuable parts are gone.

Even the amount of people viewing seems to have diminished.

If I have a load of bits to list then each one has to be done individually, if i'm going to have to do this then I may as well ebay them.

Its fairly well known that parts fetch more money on ebay, howevern listing stuff on TMF didn't line ebays pockets and cost me money, therfore I was happy to accept a lower price on TMF. A benefit to all concerned

As I understand it a major gripe about the old system was the amount of spammage and "Nice xxxxx dude, wish I had the dough to buy it"

Surely this could have been fixed by simply giving the ad poster the option of "locking" their own ad, no comments could be posted and the OP could still unlock the ad to "Bump"?

If I'm now resorting to using the evil money making monster that is ebay again then surely other people are too?

I'd rather sell my bits easily to like minded enthusiasts than mess around like that.

The old TMF system didn't need you to start your auctions with military precision and could get results at anytime.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm going on I just feel that the new system isn't doing the forum any favours.

Shifty
