Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody could give me a few pointers, pros, cons etc about transplanting a 1275 Metro engine into my City E which currently has a standard 998.
How much extra brake will i be expecting given its an alright runner?
How do you know the specific mileage of the donor?
How do you change your mileometer and speedo to give the right readings and mileage?
Whats the difficulty given they're both A series (and im a mechanical novice, but can get to grips with most things)?
How easy is it to transport the donor motor from the midlands to london? Do i need to hire a small van and will i be able to pick it up and put it in the back or will i need a winch??
Any other mods which might be needed like uprating the brakes to 4 pots etc?

Thanks for your help.
Dave

Hi

I did the same as you did by swaping a 998 wiv a 1275 metro engine. As for BHP u need to know ur engine code for example 12h01 and look up the expected bhp as standard on the net. It was a straight swap body wise but a few wires had to be added and cut away as the dizzy was a normal vacum 1 and the metro dizzy was a breakless electric 1. As for the mileage and mileometer and speedo im not to sure but i heard u need to get the speedo set by a pro. As for the breaks the 998 2pots are fine on mine. The newer the breaks the better. I hd mine done by DC minis for 300 pound etc and it took them a day. Hope this helps

Rick
