Hi,
Just a quick one,for those who run the promotive conversion.
How often do the chain and/or sprockets need to be replaced? Also is there anything else that wears out particularly quickly?
Many thanks,Ross.

Without scotoiler not that often but i will need to take it off every 2000 & have it checked! with scotoiler & correct tension they last a long long time! the only thing that wears is the tensioner sprocket if its not quite inline! we did have some early problems with bearings & sprockets and twisting this n that but they have all been ironed out now!
Hope that helps

Thanks for that,i was looking at the scott oiler kits - think i will get the tourer model with longer distance between fill ups.Seems like it would save a lot of hassle.
I dont mind checking or even replacing fairly regularly just so long as its not ridiculous.
Cheers Ross.

would it help if the teeth on the sprocket were case hardened or something?

my second chain has lasted very well since fitting the scott oiler, the bigger volume 'tourer' is what I got and I've just filled it up again after approx 600 miles of running. I might have it set a bit 'loose' but its doing a good job
basky's got a good point there - make sure your tensioner gear is sitting in the right position.
not sure about the case hardeneing? all my sprockets look fine and work fine, it was only 1 link in the first chain that failed, made a terrible loud clunking noise.
