Hi,

am hoping to convert my 1972 Mini clubman from the early hardy spicer type driveshafts and gearbox to the later to the later pot joint type. But I still want to keep my original a series engine.

Can this be done? are all gearboxes interchangable? Will I need any more bits (transfer gears etc)?

Cheers
Steven

Yes, and all you have to do is change the output shafts on the diff, which inturn will save you having to remove the gearbox from the engine, just take the diff off the back.

But, if you do want to change to an A+ gearbox, you will either need to replace your drop gears for A+ or build the A+ box with a conversion idler bearing to allow you to use your current A series drops with an A+ box...

How much do you want for the Hardy spicer joints, output shafts and drive shafts??? Only presuming that they are not the rubber coupling ones

Hi the reason for me converting to pot joints is that one of the driveshafts (passenger side) has broken about 1/2" from the end of the main driveshaft just before it goes into the outer CV. They could be repaired I suppose if you have use of lathes etc.

I think they might be the rubber coupling type rather than Hardy Spicer what is the difference?

My gearbox is the remote change type can I still use the later diff with this gearbox?

Cheers
