got new nylon bushes for top engine mountings but still getting that thud when let off the accelerator, i know its never gonna be completely gone, but this isn't exactly instilling me with confidence! i talked to a mini mechanic, he said itssomethin broken more than the bottom mountings?! anything i should check before i bring it to him where he'll stick his fist up my ass and rob me rotten!! :gasp:

check all ur engine mounts and also ur gearbox mounts

Consider an ultimate head steady... 20 quid and can make some difference!
Also check out your gearbox steady as mentioned, and if you can find one in a scrappy fit a second one (you can fit one on both right and left of gearbox, although minis come with one fitted usually. My GT has two installed and its pretty solid!)
Also replace ALL the rubbers in the steadies if they're gone. It makes a big difference!

Check it aint the exhaust nockin on either the gear change or one of the seatbelt bolts under the car. I have had this prob myself...

also check all your suspention mounts, i had this problem on a differant car were the tie rod bushes had worn away.
does it only happen when driving or does it do it when you rev the engine from under the bonnet aswell????????

or even better solid mount it like i have, but welding a 1" box sectoin across the top of the engine...lol :grin:
