 could anyone give me a bit of advice, my mini keeps cutting out and the revs drop very low and then go too high.
Basically it went in for MOT and came back cutting out, the garage swear hey haven't touched the engine and I have tried a few things but it still isnt cured. I have had to speed up the engine to nearly 20rpm (when warm) which is far too high atherwise when I rev it or stop at lights etc the revs drop and it shudders to a halt. Me and my dad have checked a few things and he has come to the conclusion that something may be sticking somewhere.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem as it seems to have occured out of nowhere.
Any help and advise greatly appreciated.
cheers

maybe the Carb jet is sticking causing the mixture to stay very rich and so flooding the engine at low revs? Mine did this for a while, and it would be cured if the revs were higher as you have mentioned already.
Hope that helps!
So is it a standard engine? Possibly they turned down the mixture to get it through its MOT thats the only thing they should ever need to touch. That would also cause this problem, my guess is that it is either too rich or too lean, or the jet is sticking.

I think the jet maybe sticking then because it was running too lean which we altered. thanks everyone I will have another crack at it.
