this is a Mini forum and lately there has been a fair few new mini owners coming on and gettign rather confused replies.
take the guesswork out of it and make the Bini owners welcome but corral them into their own area

To be fair, the amount of BMW MINI owners we get on here is minimal. I dont think a section would be ultilised.
Secondly, this has and always will be a forum dedicated to the classic mini. We welcome BMW owners and have made a rule of the forum that BINI bashing is not acceptable.
Yes, the BMW MINI shares the mini name. But it is not the same car at the end of the day. I dont think we need the section on the forum personally, there are plenty of BMW MINI forums available out there. I dont think the section would bring anything to the forum and I dont think we have enough resources/knowledge to help anyone with BMW MINI technical problems and such.

There's so much crossover on different forums as it is already, all the information posted up here will only be taken from other well established New Mini forums to pad it out.
Also, you end up having the same conversation 4 times, eg. "As I said on xyz forum, blah blah blah."

It's a forum to support Classic Mini enthusiasts, advice and discussion about a totally different car with a very similar name would just add confusion. There'd actually be more justification for a Metro or Midget section.
MINI owners are welcome, but they'll have to keep discussions about their cars to the sites dedicated to them.

As mentioned, sub forums for other a-series cars would make more sense for the application of our knowledge base, but even those cars have sufficient dedicated forums already.

I'll mirror the above and say it wouldn't be a great idea.
