Does anyone know if 10x6 GB alloys will foul on the bodywork anywhere on my 1990 Mini? I've seen loads of 10x6's fitted to cars in the Mini Mags but none have mentioned if they rub on the bodywork at any point, or if they've got spacers etc? I'll be fitting group 2 arches and want the wheels to look right (i.e not spaced miles from the car to avoid rubbing!). Anyone fitted 10x6's got any advice? Much appreciated!

Rich.

1st: Spacering will INCREASE rubbing

2nd: If you're running a standard 8.4 disc brake set up 10" wheels will NOT fit over the caliper. You MIGHT be able to fit them by using 1" spacers, but as mentioned above, this will only increase rubbing

Yeah, I'm aware of the brake issue. I'm using Cooper S disc assemblies etc. Just wondering if the 10x6's will rub on the body on full-lock steering, or if lowering the car an inch with Hi=lo's etc.

It shouldn't, but it really depends on the wheel. Some have more dish than others, and so may rub a bit.

Lowering the car will increase the chance of rubbing.

However, even if they rub, don't be put off. Trimming the arches on the front isn't a big job, and not very easy to mess up since any mistakes will be covered by arches :)

Get the grinding axe out!!!

They will very probly rub at the front of the arch on 3/4 - full lock, this is easy to over come. Either dont used full lock, cut the arch back a bit, bend it back a bit or use your Hi-Lo's to adjust the ride height till it doesnt do it.

If your fitting Hi-Lo's tho, remember it takes around a weeks worth of driving before they are all settled. Dont fit them, set it to the height you want, then go hacking bits of your car off, because a week later it will have settled and you'll proply either end up cutting more off, then realise its too low and need to raise it again and it will look odd then with big cut outs every were!

easyiest way to test if they are going to rub, is to jack up the front of the car on the susspension link arm to its full hight and turn the car from lock to lock, adjust the ride height accordinglly you dont have to lower it straight away as BMR said it takes a week to settle, so lower as much as you can without rubbing, run for a week or so, then recheack if you can lower more or need to raise........

That's great folks, thanks for all the advice! I'm glad I made the decision to opt for 10 inchers, even if it is a bit of messing around. It'll be worth it! (hopefully) :)
