Why is it that with every other the bigger the rims the better, but with mini's everyone is for smaller wheels. :cry:

I know mini's are supposed to handle best on 10's, after all thats what they were originally designed for, but if you were buy any other car it is generally considered a step up to go for bigger wheels. :lol:

This isn't stricly true. Sir Alec Issigonis orignally designed the car to take 12" rims, but was overruled by BMC because the cost of the raw materials in the late 50's was too much. British Leyland/Austin changed to 12" rims in '84, when the manufacturing expense had become dominated by labour costs. At that time it was costing them almost as much to produce a Mini as it was to produce their 'luxury' cars, the Princess and the Ambassador.
