had my mini out yesterday, when i was slowing down and braking to go into a 40mph speed limit, it just died, the engine was still running, i tried pumping the accelerator pedal and nothing happened, eventually it cut itself off so i rolled to a stop, tried to start, nothing! checked the fuel lines etc everything was ok, it was getting fuel, has plenty oil, got the ignition no problem etc...

after a while of trying in desperate vain it started, and took it home no problem.

Surely it wasnt a fuel pump problem as that was replaced a while ago after this previously happening! although the last time it did not start at all afterwards, but was fine after another carb was fitted!

can someone please tell me what can be causing this? is it possibly too much heat?? we looked at the carb that i originally had and cant find anything wrong with it at all.

please help.

thanks

two thoughts, fuel line damaged under the car, or battory cable shorting on the exhaust
