Hey,

Need some advice. I'm gonna get a compressor sometime tomorrow probably and have the following choices:

Small compressor (2hp, 2 gallon tank)
Medium compressor (2.5hp, 6 gallon tank)

Now the price between the two isn't THAT much but I still rather not pay it if i don't have to.

I'm buying the compressor primarily for airbrushing, so even the small one is surplus to requirements. However, I would like to be able to clear-coat panels and also perhaps paint something like a bootlid or bonnet (not a whole car etc.).
Would the 2.5hp compressor with a 6 gallon tank allow me to do something like a bootlid? (don't mind if it has to refill the tank quite often as long as it doesn't do it while I'm in the middle of a layer). I won't be using any HVLP guns, so the compressor doesn't need to provide as much CFM anyway.

Basically if it's almost impossible to paint a bootlid or clear coat small-ish panels sometimes even with the 6 gallon model, I'll just buy the small compressor. If it's possible to clear or paint with the 6 gallon I'll get that one.

Like I said the reason the compressor is getting purchased is airbrushing, it would just be nice to be able to clear coat stuff myself rather than take it to a paintshop every time...

Cheers

Yep I've read that GW, no mention of a 24 litre tanked compressor. I cannot afford a 50l model.
That thread refers to "spraying", I figured that implied painting quite a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you paint individual panels once in a while, it's not quite the same thing is it?

Cheers

50ltr is realy only good for panels... I can only manage to do 1/2 roof before you need to wait for the compressor to charge again... and it's better not to spray while the pumps going.

IMO....
