It came to be my 27th birthday on the 28th of June this year. This is what I got from my Girlfriend! A Rover Mini Studio 2, 1990

She bought it off her friend. I knew about Mable for ages, and the fact that she was up for sale. I thought it was out of reach spending hours on ebay looking for the ideal barn find. So now I am the proud owner of Mable and I plan to strip her down to nothing and assess the rusty issues!

Please, any thoughts or suggestion with this one, I welcome greatly. I have absolutley no idea what to do with her in terms of restoring her. I was thinking of colouring her the new Fiesta pink/light purple??

This will be my first Mini re-build. I have had one before, in fact it was my first car, but I only lightly modded it.

OK update is finally here, sorry for the delay. It isn't really that exciting until you have the engine out I guess!

Before I stripped the car down properly, I wanted to see if the engine was running. Then I could sell it as a non runner/running. After three years stood, I finally got her running again!

Vid of Mable running
She let out a lot of popping and farting but spose that's from being stood/too rich from pooring straight into carb.

So time for the bits to start coming off...

Radiator gave me greef, surprisingly. Just the cowling mounts seized on so they ended up snapped. Think I will replace the radiator anyway, looks a bit sorry.

Bit of surface rust hopefully

I dont want to replace this panel, I want to keep as much as possible original.

Next job is remove engine from subby and clean up then sell on, ready for my next purchase...TBC

just thought I would add these pics ov panels that have been put in sometime before I got mable...

Nice to see it was dressed well, and treated/painted...

I'm not entirely sure what do do about them. Think I will have to get drill/wire brush on them see if its surface rust. Either that or go daft and cut the crappy things out.
DSC00926.jpg

Had a poke around and bored two little holes, prob replace the floor panel here, not sure yet.
DSC00928.jpg

Passenger door sill, and its the same on the other side, but bigger. Also few 10p sized holes in boot. I'll post one on when I've had a further poke. Apart from these there's not much more rust except surface in the usual places.

Sorry about quality, these are just from my phone. Need an SLR really.

That is the EXACT pink I want for Bev, that I have been searching for for months upon end. I suppose it's a long shot for you to have the paint code for it? :proud:

Look forward to seeing more pictures in the future

Hi Kimberley, it was painted using the left over paint from the Rock FM thundertruck. I can enquire. Leave it with me I'll get back to yer!
I quite like it! That's why I am going to stick to a similar colour. Stay tuned for Photoshopped!

Just thought I would share these goodies I bought, just because they were cheap!
The standard Rover Studio comes with 2 dial, but I want a 3 dial. Will not use the casing for it though and go for a sweet dash, not walnut though, I'm not keen.
