I used the alternator mount.

Probably because it's on aluminium so would break.

No, I meant where the flywheel housing bolts to the block.

That's called the transfer case. I can't see why not on these holes ?

You might find the nose of the crank in the way... I´m pretty sure I´ve posted this picture before in other engine stand thread, but here´s how I did it. My stand came with moveable mounts I could align with the holes for alternator mounts and the oil filter mounts. I used some square section and heavy washers to space it all out make sure it mounted farily level.
