Not 100% sure on the mini details, but generally all the locks are operated by long wire rods that hook into the levers. They can unhook themselves when the plastic clips on the ends wear.
Take off the door inner trim panel and have a look!!
If you've never looked inside a door before you'll see just how stupidly easy it would be after a bit of practice to bend a coat hanger, slide it down the window rubber and move the levers about.
Urgh.

Hopefully you'll just need to rehook the rods. if the mechanism is broken - you'll need to remove the trim panel anywa to put a new one in!

as david has said , inside the door there is a small rod which connects to the door lock, and is held on by a plastic clip, if you remove the trim for the door, close the door, and get someone to open it while you have a look to see what is or isn't moving, if you see a loose rod somewhere, then it needs to be stuck back onto the lock..
a tip, if your not sure you can allways take of the pass trim and see how it should look this will give you an idea of what has broken.
then just pop down to your local salvage dealer and get a new part..
