Hi,

I bought a 2000 W reg Mini Cooper Sports this week in Red and Silver with a full length Webasto Sunroof, he's great :) and is now named "Elmo".

The problem I've got is the sunroof is a little slacker on one side than the other, it opens and closes fine, one side is tight, the other you can get most of your hand in, does anyone know how to adjust these roofs so I can tighten it up?

Thank for your time.

Regards,

James.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply, I might well take you up on your offer. :) I'm going to ask a local sunroof fitting/repair company to have a look, I'm sure they won't charge for that.

Regards,

James.

I've got the same problem with my webasto, however as the mini is currently having other work done on it I havent got around to playing about with the sunroof motor.

Crum01, when you get it sorted let me know how you managed it! thanks.

Hi,

Today I went to see a sunroof specialist, he fits and repairs Webasto among others. He took one look at my roof and told me exactly why it wasn't taut on one side. Inside the outer edge of the sunroof is a wire that runs the full length of the sunroof, it tightens when the roof is closed and makes a nice tight fit, the wire on one side of mines has broken (I didn't realise there was a wire in there).

He also told me that Webasto no longer make parts for this roof, their newer version is smaller, and to repair it would mean taking the whole roof out!!! (I'm trying to work out a way I can get a new wire in with the roof in place).

The good news is he has had so many minis coming to him with this problem (and worse, he said that mine was in good condition), that he is going to design a Vinyl roof to fit and sell it as a diy kit. He recons that he will have these for sale by early next year (no price as yet).

I'll keep you up to date.

Regards,

James.
