all finished now apart from finishing wiring it up, all brakes bled, clutch bled and throttle connected, just got to choose a steering wheel, and fit bumpers if they ever turn up that is, had some carbon bumpers on order since november from arc angels, had about 4 delivery dates so far and they never turn up, not best pleased with them, hopefully be up and running if i get time next week

all done and up and running, even got bumpers, they may have took a long time coming but they do look good, engine runs a treat and because im running r1 clocks can see all fault codes etc and erase them but im left with 1 fault i cant get rid of which is exup even though i have a graves motorsport eliminator, so will have to play with that, now need to get suspension set up and mot, then do the battle of getting insurance for it

quick update, just been up the road, jesus how quick, was hoping it went well but way faster than i thought it would be, getting a lot of whine from engine gearbox when driving, dont know if this is how they all are as not been in another r1 mini, anyway looking forward to putting a few miles on it.

the whine is probably from the differential and chain - it's normal...they are quick arn't they :)

I've been in a few R1 minis and they don't whine, I would bet that it's the internal gearing to change direction in the transfer gearbox

cheers

Great to hear you've got it done and on the road :D)
martins correct a certain amount of whine from the transmission is normal. This would be partly from the chain but a lot to do with the fact that the R1 gearbox is straight cut. The diff uses a standard helical cut crown wheel and pinion. I'd say you've got nothing to worry about there (just listen to a bike when it over takes you, they make the same noise) but any concerns feel free to give me a ring.

Stick your foot out the door and push...

Think the Pro-mo guys have sorted reverse out now though for the new kits?

Yes we do now offer a reverse gear and have quite a few in cars and working very well.

We haven't yet put details on the website as we are currently in negotiations with the supplier so we can do them as a standard fit to every kit.

Basically it's gear driven, no electric motors! It gives you the use of 6 forward and 6 reverse gears. They are Very compact Units and designed to fit our existing kits so anyone who has already got a kit can easily fit 1.

Hopefully we will be able to give full details on the website very soon, so watch this space.

Does that mean you could go as fast in reverse as you can forwards? Sounds nuts, and a great idea for santa pod haha ;)

after a few runs down road i think its become clear that my mini needs longer legs, acceleration in sixth gear is pretty brutal untill the red line, and grip in the first 3 gears is near non existent, so i will be phoning pro mo in the morning to see what my options are, anyway other than this all is good lol.
