Barrel replacementJust bought myself a 1992 Mini Sprite only catch is the guy lost the keys for the doors
I have just ordered a set of barrels from minispeed any ideas on how u fit them? I'm new to all this
When I swapped the barrels over on my chrome handles (mk2/3) I found that the key needed to be inserted and maybe turned in one direction before the barrel would come out. I realised this after I got annoyed and smashed it with a club-hammer ruining one of the locks! (
i found this on http://www.ime.org.uk/
made me laugh but probably wont have the same effect on you  sorry :cheese:
sorry that was mean
have you removed the handle from the door yet?
if not remove the door card to reveal two screws which hold on the handle, unscrew them and i'm a bit rusty but you might have to loosen the latch screws (often very tight)
once the reverse of the handle is visible there is a black washer which crimps the barrel, remove this and the barrel should come out, this is assuming you dont need the existing key as described above. sorry i'm not much help, i did this two years ago before i sold my mini so am a bit rusty

I just followed the haynes manual and it was really straight forward. (..if you don't have a haynes manual, you need one!!)

Well....It's a pretty tight fit as expected, the first one broke off in my hand while I was pushing it in and the second one went in ok but then wouldnt work so I removed it and again pulled the end off. They are really badly made to break in my hand I aint a big blokeHow did they get broken? From memory, you have to remove the handles as mentioned above and look for a little brass cross-pin that holds the barrels in. Drive the pin out and use the key to unlock and extract the core. To use the over-simplified Haynes instruction "reassembly is the reversal of disassembly".
