Well....there is the Wood and Pickett option. IF you can find a Vauxhall Victor grille to cut down:

Or.....you could remove all the black paint/anodizing (don't know what it is) and polish it up. A nice set of fog lamps will go a long way to making it look good too:

I am interested as well since I just picked up a clubman in the states. Been looking around, I thought they offered a billet grille, but I guess they are just the stock ones polished? I've seen some funky ones on ABS that are fiberglass, they are a little over the top for me.

Mark 1 Golf with built-in fogs? That would look good.

What about something based around the Mk. 1 Capri quads? That could look cool.

You're definitely going to need some skills (and imagination) to do something custom.

Mk2 golf grill fits if you cut the light surrounds off, shorten-it, then put it back together.

Wasn't carbon weezel talking about doing a carbonfibre stock one? None the less, the shape of the stock grille would seem like it would be easy to build something since it's fairly flat and simple.

theres easy ways to make old stock ones look good, i picked up a old tatty one from castle combe. stripped the paint and repainted it in matt black. (the standard black was matt)

and heres the gt grille i have on my car

however i would be VERY intrested of there was a company who where to start making an alternative/reproducing the old one.

might have a go at a mk2 golf grill myself actually

How about an ally sheet with some worked details? Would look pretty good and would be a one off?
