Hi!

Starting to think about refurbishing a slightly tatty clubman grille back to standard spec. Has anyone done this?

I wondered if it would be worth sanding down and polishing the metal bits, then masking them while the rest is painted black, then apply lacquer to the whole thing?

Any advice? I'm not even sure what kind of metal the grille is made of!

Its a thin pressed aluminium.  I would use a paint stripper or cellulose thinners to remove the paint, that way you'll find that the metal underneath is shiny - if you sand it it will make more work to polish it back up.

Mask off and paint with satin black, no need to lacquer - they weren't when new.

Whilst on this subject - does anyone have pictures/ideas for a grill on a fibreglass front end? Haven't cut yet so I have options
