We have measured everything and all seems to be ok. Even changed the ECU just te be sure.
I am wondering now if these R1 engines need the speedo to be able to run? Some kind of safety feature or something?
Thanks,
Tim

Possibly tim as the speedo runs through a basic diagnostic check first , so it's sensible to hook up a speedo and try it .

there are several safety protocols - most already mentioned, but also includes kickstand I believe on certain models

@ Dave: Ignition switch? You mean the thing your press to start the engine? We have all this and the key. Or do you mean something else?
@ Roofless: We've checked all those. Wasn't the problem though.
@ Alex: Think we've checked this too, will double check though.
Still wondering if the speedo is essential as this will set me back a few quid + I cannot seem to find the right one.
Thanks guys

pretty sure there is a hand clutch switch too, this may a problem! also i think the gears need to be in neutral so the N switch doesnt stop the engine starting.
just ideas/suggestions tho.

@ Rosslin: There are times in a build like this that one just wants to burn everything and buy a running example. But thats not what I did. I called in the help of a guy I know who builds custom motorcycles. He is rebuilding the whole wiring loom, reducing it to a simple loom. Has seen a spark already, will probably finished in a week or three as he is very busy with his company.
@ Sean: Thanks for your thinking. Was not it though. Thing is a real b**ch but will tackle her!
New progress pictures will follow soon as the whole rear frame has been redone as there was not enough room for the ZCars suspension...
Trial and not too much error, could have seen worse problems I Guess...

hell yeah, fair play for sticking with it, alot of people would have just given up at that point. and like rosslin not looking forward to the messing with the blade loom either.
cant wait to see the progress pictures, good luck with the engine bud
