Seen as it's coming up to that dreaded time of year again, what about organising a TMFSS?

Basically, say all the most active/frequent visitors on here enter their names in a virtual hat and toward the end of November the names are drawn in pairs, each side contacted via PM/Email with the other's details?

Set a limit of something like £5 including gift, card and postage and see what randomness ensues :genius:

Good Idea / Bad Idea?

Rules & Regulations
As per the above edit, the rules and regulations of The TMF Secret Santa 2009 Draw are as follows:

  • £10 limit inc gift, card and P&P.
  • The gift must somehow be linked to the recipients Mini. In the absence of a Mini, the gift may be randomly selected as long as it complies with the other rules.
  • No socks, smellies or ties unless somehow related to Minis.
  • No going to Halfords, just to add to the challenge ;)
  • All gifts are to be properly presented as gifts, with seasonal wrapping/tags etc.

We will be holding the Draw on 20th November and contacting those involved with details of who they are nominated as Secret Santa for. Do not supply personal details here or in other related threads. Vern's Playmate (bec) will be collecting shortly via PM.

Regards,

G.D

I don't mind helping if you'd like it?

Do we just ask who wants to get involved? Bear in mind it may mean giving away your address to possibly an unknown person.

The other thing is drawing it in pairs - do they buy a present for each other? Then they will know who they will be getting their present from?

Also! Postal strikes might put a muckers on it - we could arrange it for exchanging in person at the christmas mini show? Put all the presents anonymously into a box and santa can give them out. If one person over sees it and anyone doesnt receive a present, it can be traced back to who should have got them it >_<

I was thinking names here and PMs with the rest of the details to the organiser(s) so there's only one point with the details, thus it's slightly safer.

Pairing is the easiest way to do it... the other way is make a list of the entrants and randomly draw a name against each of them, ticking them off as we go. Makes it slightly more random that way.

Although we'll have to put restrictions in, so if X is allergic to Chocolate, we state that X can't be brought Chocolate.

be better if only one person had addresses and such for safety's sake, but exchanging at an xmas show is probably the best idea.

total anoniminity (SP) is best too >_<

oh and no making up new accounts to get 2 presents!!!

If you do end up swaping at a show, not neccersarly everyone would go so that kinda balls things up a bit.

True, but thats where the posateg element comes in - the organiser would be at said show and can then post or arrange somethign with the recipient - remember the giver pays the postage.

I guess those not attending the show would have to state such beforehand >_<
