I havent had my mini long now and drove it in the rain for the 1st time today and noticed the windscreen wipers are pretty useless! I have been told thats the way they are so I'm not worried BUT..... has anyone tried to kinda upgrade them or is there anything you can do to improve them?
Weird Question I know but I couldnt see a thing earlier!!

In what way are they useless?

I dont have any problems other than them being small wich is a result of the small windscreen :w00t:

a common problem is the rack and the wheel boxes get gummed up.
set a morning aside, and take the rack and the wheel boxes off the car, pull them to bits, and thoroughly clean them.
re-assemble them using loads of fresh grease, and majically watch as your wipers glide effortlessly accross your screen!

a nice set of stainless wiper arms with extra strong springs worked for me. get them from minispares with the stainless wiper blades. they both look and perform better.

I've not tried this yet, but I've been informed that whilsts my scuttle panel is being welded in, I should take the wheel boxes off and leave them in a lubricating oil for a few days. According to my source, this cleans them, AND smoothes them out.

Both my Mini and my Triumph have krappy wipers... slow and off are the only speeds and the arms apply minimal pressure to hold the blades against the glass. Without Rain-X I won't drive in the rain. Once you've tried it you won't go back. There is only one bad thing I've found about it. DON'T ever spill it on cloth (as in cloth seats). The ingredients in Rain-X will attack cloth seats and cause them to shred like dry-rot does. I learned this first-hand many years ago and no longer carry the stuff in my car.
