i need cash to fund my crx respray and i have my project mini in the garage gathering dust.
the mini has a working 998 in it at the moment but i purchased a 1293 from an accident damaged car so it would have a bit more go
i have spent about £360- £400 on the engine and i know its a good runner.
it has:
roller rockers (decent ones)
some head work has been done as the ports are larger than standard and seem a lot smoother
also the shape of the combustion chamber is different
vernier duplex timing chain
a 2" su with pipercross filter + a intake manifold modified by me
a decent cam(cant remember what it is though) :D
the bores are immaculate (still has visible hone marks) and the piston tops look almost new
the clutch is an uprated one and it has a hardened diff pin
i have a full gasket set
all new service items like plugs, fuel + oil filter and stuff
will also be selling with it a ford edis module and crank trigger/ sensor kit so it can have electric ignition
i have stripped all the manky old paint off and treated it to a new coat
at the moment the head and clutch cover are off and there are no ancilliaries
so what i need to know is what is a good asking price?
i have a possible buyer offering £350 but i think its worth more :D

im presuming its a very good engine due to the fact that all the gaskets were new and as someone has gone through the trouble of fitting all new seals and gaskets to every part and fit a diff pin and uprated clutch i should hope that the bottom end has been rebuilt aswell

erm as for the carb i think its a 2" su
unless they dont exist

is a shame you might be selling this andrew, but everyone has to have their priorities and the crx is the daily (and sillily rapid)

to be honest id give you £350 for the min anyday, if hadnt gone off to uni and completely wasted my money on god knows what. its a very nice little min and to be honest it isnt that far off completion and becoming a rapid little beast.

£350 is for the engine and ignition stuff only

i have spent shedloads on the mini so there is no chance thats going for under £1500
im going to finish off the welding later (if it doesnt rain) so it will only need to be painted and mot`d then it will be on the road
then i can get the welding done on my crx and get a full respray carried out to bring it up to its former glory. :D
i can always keep the mini in the garage and when funds allow stick a sc`d lump in it to turn it into a weekend toy and trackslag  funfunfun.
i also have to get all the geometry sorted as it has adjustable everything and i found my shocks that i thought i had lost.

If it could be heard running I would be tempted myself to pay £400/450 for that to be honest as knowing it runs nice does help to be honest.

For an engine in bits, I think 350 is a good offer...

Ideally you want it up and running, with evidence of good oil pressure, temperature and no smoking...if you want more.
