Right then, I have a 998 A+ that is fitted with an Ultra Light flywheel (well a lightened and balanced one at least).

Will this fit onto my A+ crank?

Furthermore, will my A+ crank fit into the A series block I am getting???

Or is it gonna be a case of getting a decent A series crank for the A series block and then another decent flywheel? :w00t:

I'm not certain on this but isn't there something different about the gear that goes on the end of the crank?

Yes it will all fit... as long as the A series block is a 998..

Cranks are not the same between small bore (998) and big bore (1275)

and the nose of the crank is the same on ALL cranks.

I want to be like GW when I grow up! He knows his onions! :w00t:

I want to use the flywheel off my 998 A+
plonk it onto my 1275 A+ crankshaft
and slap the lot into a 1400 A series block

So from what GW says, the nose is the same, and the 1275 A+ crank will fit the 1400 A series block. COOLIO!!!!

A 998 flywheel will fit any crank, but a 1275 crank in a 1400 engine will need to be stroked unless your going for a 1380.

a 1400 engine will need to be stroked unless your going for a 1380.

1430 uses the 83mm stroked crank at 74mm bore

And if you can afford the 86mm billet crank 1480cc is poss

Yeah, as Guessworks says, it has 74mm offset bores, so with a standard stroke crank it should be somewhere in the region of 1400 (1399 or something).

Going to get the block and pistons on Saturday afternoon from Northampton, then I will have more of an idea of what else is needed for the build.

I need to fit the pistons (that have the gudgeons with em) onto my rods too. It's not something I've done before but I have read the guide in FAQ and don't mind having a go!

Got to buy myself a new ring compressor though as the other one seems to have gone walkies! :nugget:

Unless I use the old sheet of tin and big jubilee clips trick that my old boss taught me! :)

Glad I am OK to use the old flywheel and crank, should be good fun building it all up, just need to buy those transfer gears and a good clutch.
