I have a z cars road kit mini with a gsxr1000 with their new front end and lower mounted engine and i have had it on the road about 3-4 weeks but to be honest im not very happy with how it handles.
It seems very bouncy on the front end and not much grip through the twisty bits ( i would be quicker in an original mini through the corners).
I have tried dropping the air pressure in the tyres to 22 front and back which are yokos and checked the clicks on the shocks and they are half way, i have also had the car set up at z cars!
Any suggestions?

Try less damping on the front.
What weigh is your car ? what rear springs do you have ?

Its printed on the area that seats against the shocker top or bottom.
You need to jack the car up a bit and let the suspension droop.

Did you make any progress with the handling? Would be interesting to know if you managed to overcome the handling issues.

first ive heard of this one
bouncy ride just doesnt seem right somehow
on a bike engined car you can go lower on the tyre pressures around 18 psi cold all round
when you say bouncy in what way ?
is it the front of the car or the rear thats causing concern
did you look at the springs and read the poundage
how much preload is there on the springs at each end
how many clicks of adjustment have you on it from zero
im sure theres got to be an explanation for it as all the others are ok we just need to identify what it is
you may have a duff shocker or something although that would be very rare as we have sold thousands of the protech shocks with not problems

just re read your post again
bouncy on the front sounds like maybe wrong spring rate fitted which can happen just get me a reading of the spring rate
alternatively you could have too many clicks of damping on there and drop tyre pressures a bit to 18 psi cold

Hi Chris

What should the poundage of the springs be front and back for a bike car and a Vtec?

Many thanks

Can someone advice what sort of springs are used in hayabusa and vtec conversions? I´m having the feeling my front springs are way to stiff.

Could it be that the car insn't alligned right? This could cause a bouncy front to....

Mine isn't alligned yet and I have a bouncy front at the moment.

Good luck

René

Geometry set up was done twice. Not been on the scales but I would really like to know what spring rates are other Z-cars using. Mine are currently 200lbs on the front and 400 lbs on the rear.

Anyone knows there spring rates or has experienced with different ones?
