Hi All,

I have a 1981 998 HL and am not sure if the engine is A or A+.

The number is 99H 791PZ 45960.

I posted yesterday and was told to look at the dizzy clamp...if its a fork type its an A+.

Had a look and sure enough it is a fork type clamp bolted to the block so this would point to it being an A+ but all the literature I have read (Moss catalogue, various sites) say the 99H791P engine is not A+!!!!!

Also, it doesn't have the ribbed engine casting that denotes an A+ (which has been mentioned in various mags).

Confused!!!

I will be starting to buy bits for the engine soon so will have to be 100% sure it it's an A or A+.

By the way..does anybody know how the HL differs from other mins?

Cheers

This is what an A+ looks like at the dizzy...

And as for HL I think this is what became the Mayfair, with the HLE being the Economy version... ( I may well be wrong on that )
