Well... dont know about all the above, but... I needed bits sent to New Zealand, and tried Minisport, Minispares and Huddersfield. Huddersfield were the only ones who had group 6 arches in stock, and sent those and some other bits - arrived in New Zealand 3 or 4 days later. Minisport - rubbish service took ages to find out they had nothing I asked for in stock. Minispares - slow service, had most bits and sourced other bits after time, so... good service but a bit slow.

my two penny worth.

Huddersfield mini spares is the epitome of a company formed by enthusiasts with a superb mission statement that gets greedy on the availability of profits over quality.

just my opinion having seen the firm develop and grow over time - nice, tidy unique products replaced with mass produced, imported cack, and cheaper option main brand products promoted and sold as higher end items.

classic case in example - rear beam and coilovers - more ornament than performance product.

they have developed over years from a localised specialist, through it would appear more than one name change, often the case in the expansion of a company, not just in debt avoidance, to a major stock holder, key player and sponsor of the mini scene.

but.

the vast majority of what they stock, offer and sell nowadays is without doubt high margin tat, not dissimilar to other companies like - midland wheel supplies ( ground breaking wheel specialist 10 years ago )

for 7 out of 10 customers they will be superb, the other 3 - bad luck on you.

Just my opinion, and a side-line observation over the years.

Does seem like a lot of people are slating them because of things they heard from their auntie's, friends, husbands, boyfriends, dog.

Isnt this slander?

Technically it's libel, but that's what happens on forums. It's like everyday over-the-garden-fence gossip, which can be slanderous (spoken), but it looks worse when you see it written down. The alternative is practically no free speech at all.

i used huddersfield earlier in the year, i placed an order a about 3pm for a set of 7x13 ultralites, grp 6 arches some locking nuts. 10am next day the arches came, 9am day 2 the wheels came, so i think less than 48hrs was prity good to be honest. hope everything is ok with them, im thinking of ordering cobra classic full interior and a few other bits.

simon.

If your planning on buying the standard type mk3 ones, don't. I sent back 2 different sets because of defects, and the set i finally fitted to my car isn't allot better, but at least they were repairable.

I have always had good service from the company, but i will admit the quality of the products does let them down on occasion. I have bought quite allot from them in the last year, and only had 2 or 3 problems, more than i can say for other companies.

maybe the 2nd company/different trading name is a way of getting rid of their poor customer service reputation.

From experience ive found their wheels, arches + branded stuff to be pretty good in quality and price. Their exhausts are pure excrement (sp?) - have a look through my topics if you want to know the full story.

Their technical info is rubbish when my mate first bought his mini and we did'nt know much about minis he bought a new bonnet and it did'nt fit right so he took it back twice to complain and nothing was done we later realised it was a mk1 bonnet so not that good at technical info also i ordered a set of rear light lenses and front indercater lenses and i needed the ones with out the screws i told them that and they sent me the one with the srews and two right hand rear lenses. When i have been in the past to the shop all the cars for sale have loads of good bits boltoded on aka interior, wheels and arches but the body work was rubbish one of them the door did'nt fitt right and they wanted about two grand. So not that good really.

I popped down last weekend. Woman in there didn't have the price to one of the cars in there that a friend was interested in, and said we'd have to try again in a week or so. She also told me they don't do re-sprays, yet all about the place there are pictures and posters of vehicles they've had sprayed. The jewel lights I bought from them fill with water everytime it rains, and the indicator mirrored bulbs they sell show too much White light to pass an mot. They do have lots of nice shiny bolt on bits though :proud:
