I took off my air filter and the red wire, presumably for the intake manifold was not connected, on the engine end. I can not find the place that it needs to be reconnected to, any help?????

It was a red wire with two black ends. One end was connected to the air filter cover and the other end was loose.

MM  the red one usualy has a brown end at the air filter. Anyway. The other end should fit on the back of the inlet manifold. There are two take offs, the one on the left as you look at the engine is connected to the ECU through the fuel trap. The one on the right is the one where thus vacuum line should be. If it is not plugged off this will cause running issues. This red vac line basicaly feeds the thermostatic valve on the intake tract of the filter housing and opperates the flap inside this, dirrecting warmer air from around the exhaust manifold at cold start. The K&N filter set up does not have this and it is plugged off.

Its easy to find these take off points by feel but unless you use a mirror you will not be able to see it, they are at the lowest point at the very back of the manifold and I'm sure you wont be able to squeeze a finger between the bulkhead and the take off, because they are that close.

Incidently, has the engine not been running rough, missfire, erratic idle????

I went back and looked at it, and it does have a brown end on the air filter end. No, the engine wasn;t running that rough. It had a high idle, but no mis-firing or anything like that. Just spent half an hour trying to find that connection point and I still cant find it.

Here is where it should go on the back of the manifold.

Picture taken as if you were sitting in the car looking at it through the bulkhead

Thanks, that will work great. I should be able to find it when I get home from work. Appreciate it. Now just looking to replace it since it has a broken connector. Checking thru minispares and different website.
