covered the a pillar in masking tape and then painted resin onto fabric to give a good fit for the back of the pod.

Cover the lot in fabric, apply resin, sand paint/trim
You know the rest
It took a fair while to write this post, so let me know by posting here if you tried it or how you got on.
Have fun

Cost wise, an install like this would cost around 100 pounds in materials.
How long would it take ??
A week of decent graft, 3 hours a night...!

Securing the front pods...
Once you have made the pods up with the speakers out of it just drill a couple small holes through the pod and secure with self tapping screws.
I tend to work out where it will go.. check where i am going to drill the holes.
(make sure it is not going to hit cables, glass etc behind it.
Once the holes have been made then i tend to use a little hammerite paint round the hole back and front if possible, this will stop the exposed metal rusting.
If it is into the door i install straight over the door card, this way if you want to take out the instalation all you are left with is 2 or 3 small screw holes which can go un-noticed.
If it is the footwell, straight over the carpet is fine meaning you dont have to cut the carpet
If it is for competition purposes then trimming it into the panel is the way to go.

where to buy fleece really really cheap..
If you are thinking of building a sound system like this.. then grab some fleece..
I have just found out that Lidl of all places will be doing it very shortly for 3.99 for a blanket size..
grab a couple sheets and store them away in a cupboard, does not take much room...!!
Get fleece here
That way whenever your ready you can start..!
