What we've found is if you walk briskly and keep talking to the dog to keep their attention, they naturally start to heel without much correction, when they do this give the 'Heel' command and praise for it. Another sneaky, sneaky is to keep a little something nice in your nearest pocket, they'll catch the scent and stick to you like glue for it...this typically works best with puppies. Once again, when they're where you want them, give the 'Heel' command and praise and possibly the tidbit or clicker if you're using one.

Heel is sticking by you when on the lead, Jay still hasn't quite got the hang of that himself but we're getting there!

Very good suggestion, didn't think about hiding the food, very sneaky!
Another way could be target training your puppy to your hand, so when they do wonder a little away, yu get them to target the hand and they can come back to that point.

Hi I have a 9 week old springer and I am having problems with him biting peoples legs in quite an aggressive way how do I stop this sooner rather than later ?
