i have some 4 pot calipers on my mini which i want off because they space my wheels out to much, the have new disks, brand new calipers and new pads. I have been offered a set of standard rebuilt mini cailpers with brand new disks and pads is this a fair swap? or should i sell my 4 pots and just buy a set of discs and pads and stick my cailpers that i had on there before

Unless you're a racer, you probably won't notice much difference. Even if the 4 pots are better, standard 8.4 brakes are VERY good and will stop your mini very nicely
If you can't live with spacered wheels go for a set of 8.4s, especially since you say they have been rebuilt!

Sell the Metro 4 pots.
Assuming that your calipers are in good condition. Buy a new set of groved or drilled disc's, braided brake hoses and a set of green stuff pads.
Then you have a very good set of brakes.
Siggy
